Hi Fred,

On behalf of the SLSO trumpet section I'd like to personally apologize for our strained and often insecure playing at our performance of Turangalila. It was my fault. It was also my fault that after David Robertson told the audience that they could applaud after the 5th movement that they cheered then, in the middle of the piece!. The worst part of it was that I actually thought that the trumpet section I've been playing in for 5 years has never sounded better. That shows you how clueless I am, huh?

It's just pathetic that I thought that that concert was the best orchestra concert I've been involved in for years. I obviously was totally wrong, along with the audience that to my obviously mistaken eyesight looked pretty much like a full house and who almost all stayed to the end. And then they cheered, too. Idiots! Sorry for all of us, the orchestra for playing so poorly, the 2,000 people who thought it was great, and of course that jerk over at the New York Times who dared to give us a good review.

Again, sorry for everything, Fred. Gotta go. I have rehearsal in the morning and before that, well, shucks! Cows don't milk themselves, you know!
