I think seniors divide into two categories. There are those who are just getting by. They can use the rebate. Others, happily like myself, have good retirement income, have made good money on investments over the past year, and pay a lot of taxes. Just because you retire doesn't mean you stop paying taxes! On the contrary, frequently they go up! I'm happy to get the rebate, but I'd be as happy to skip it if I had any idea the government would use it sensibly!
