Mayor Bloomberg ckaims New york City is the model on how to run public schools and police departments? Ask any teacher in a NYC public school how they feel about the testing mills they now work in-unless they work in one of his charter schools. Theman has made data the priority at the expense of the children and wrapped our City in a blanket of testing and test preparation that even the excseeive measures of No Child Left Behind Legislation do not require. His single handed dictatorial control of the school sysytem has to the effective removal of parent involvement and voice in our school sytsem. As in all thing HE knows best and nobody should have the audacity to question his wisdom and the policies he and his consultants devise in private and dictate to the masses. On policing: yes, in some areas crime is down- but that is due to the reclassification of many types of crimes. Ask anyone what the qualifications are to become a NYC Police Officer. They are taking just about anyone. The pay is disgraceful, morale at an all time low due to his disdain for unions and everyone who can pass the tests leaves for surrounding area departments after getting out of te Police Academy.
