Orwell Would Be Proud

It's possible that the predominant culture of Islam condemns terrorist acts. You just rarely hear it in public statements from Islam's leaders. You read/hear a lot more about what the extremists are saying (e.g., as quoted in the article). Regardless, the UK & US governments should be siding with the law-abiding majority, and make clear that they expect Islam's leaders to step forward, publicly condemn terrorism, and make sure Islamic public sentiment is steered in a peaceful direction. It's going to be more convincing coming from them. Why give them a pass & relieve them of this burden? Why should western governments assume the burden of assuring everyone that Islam is peaceful? Run mostly by christians, these governments aren't going to convince anyone -- certainly not the Arab street. There few bona fide cases of persecution of muslims in the US and the UK - very rare indeed. The most likely answer is that it's political correctness. Appeasement and liberalism go hand in hand.
