Chasing the Reds With Young John Edgar

Submitted by R. Andrew Kiel, Jan 29, 2008 01:08

As the author of the book "J. Edgar Hoover: The Father of the Cold War" - I dedicated the first 3 chapters of my book to Mr. Hoover's arrival into the Justice Department at the same time the Bolshevik Revolution took place - which eventually results in the our first anti-communist raid - the Palmer Raids. Unfortunately -Hoover's legititimate concern with the threat of communism turned into a dangerous lifetime obsession -marked by his wielding of unchecked power, blackmail, & obstruction of justice in the investigation of President Kennedy. Mr. Ackerman's excellent research further documents the early role of J. Edgar as the key initiator of the crusade against communism as well as suporting my thesis that Hoover was "The Father of the Cold War " from 1917 - 1972.
