I recently visited both London and New York in the summer of 2007. Went to New York for 3 days and completed all the major attractions. As we didn't know how long it was going to take us we booked 4 days and therefore had a day of just doing nothing in a boiling hot city. Whereas in London we booked 4 days again and only completed half of the attractions. From my personal experience i feel that for tourist attractions London is a better place to go.

I also felt that London is a cleaner city compared to New York. There wasn't so much litter on the street and it smelt better in London aswell. Now this might be because when i visited we were in the middle of a heat wave whereas in London the temperature is always nice (except when its raining)

From this I generally think London is a better city and would always choose to live there compared to New York and I feel many other people would agree.

I'm saying these points from my own personal experience.
