Spitzer's Budget Is Attacked From Two Diverse Angles

Submitted by greg grover, Jan 24, 2008 20:25

Only a fool, a socialist, a member of the teacher's union, or maybe all three, would deny that NY has a spending problem. For almost two generations, we've led the nation in ruining the future of our children. The sad fact is much of this excessive spending is done under the guise of being "for the children". Be honest, it's for our government employees and teachers. Now that we, as a state and nation, face serious financial questions, what is our response? To continue to spend and spend, tax and tax. Be prepared to watch our children leave. But then again that hasn't stopped us in the past, why should it now? Spitzer is correct in targeting the rise in property tax as a barrier to progress. But don't worry, school districts are already organizing their opposition. A 7.5% increase in education spending, now proposed by our Governor, just isn't enough for them. Greed rules, always has here in the Empire State.
