Slight of King Could Linger for Voters

Submitted by Robert Wiseman, Jan 10, 2008 13:48

I don't get the point that the critics of Ms. Clinton are making. Are they saying that even if Lyndon Johnson was opposed to the changes to civil rights legislation that it would have still been implemented? It seems to me to be a simple matter of logic that regardless of the color of the skin or the sex of the president, without his or her support a major piece of legislation is not likely to get passed. I suspect that those who have jumped on this comment by Ms. Clinton are not her supporters to begin with. One has to wonder at the effect of misogyny in this campaign and also wonder why those males who are criticizing Ms. Clinton aren't labeled at every utterance the way those criticizing Obama seem to be? I guess that you have to be white to be a racist and a misogynist?
