The Founding Statesmen of these United States recognized that Government is the servant of Society. Human beings can find comfort and prosperity only within ethical social aggregates. It is Mankind's Curse and blessing. Unlike the animals, we have some control over our environment. Governments are charged with maintaining the ethical bases of comfort and prosperity within Societies, correctly exercising their sway when custom cannot supply the resolution of outrages and controversies. What is Senator Clinton's idea of the Ethic of the "Just Society", and how will her Administration configure the Government to assist in the realization of that Vision? She speaks of the punishment of certain "Malefactors of Great Wealth", but that pursuit will not put gasoline in the Toyota or set a child's broken arm. What does Senator Clinton propose to do about the ramshackle American Empire that gains the United States only the international scorn that envy evokes? Why bring the Troops home from Iraq, where they MAY be insuring the flow of petroleum, and leave a mission-less Army in Europe? I wonder what her plans might be for deciding these. and similar, urgent matters.
