Why should any public official have their name attached landmarks, parks,or any other property owned by the state residents? Residents pay the high taxes and we need to work together to eliminate the waste and special deals that take place on a daily basis. One way the public could save some money is by investigating elected officials working part time but getting full time pension credits. The State Comptroller will not enforce the the procedures necessary to qualify for pension benefit. Google town of Orangetown town board voted themselves full time pension with a resolution and then voted retroactive pension benefits 10 years. Take a closer look at the longevity of pensions and you will see a pattern of public officials getting appointed to jobs with high salaries after their political career comes to a end. They use there years as politician to supercharge there new found political jobs. Worse yet they get hired has consultants by another level of government to get around two hat laws.Rockland County and Orangetown have many examples of schemes that pay to play and special interest.
