Clintons Face Democrats' Distaste

Submitted by Alexander Firestone, Jan 7, 2008 12:09

Wapshott wrote a brilliant analysis of the current Democratic Party scramble, but then spoiled it with a wrong last sentence. The only place for Mr. Edwards to pick some some more votes is not from Mr. Obama, but from Mrs. Clinton. Besides, every vote he takes away from Mrs. Clinton counts double every vote he takes away from Mr. Obama. That's because Obama comes in number one in New Hampshire, and if Mr. Edwards can manage number 2 in New Hampshire, his votes push down Mrs. Clinton's total, thus reroducing the Iowa order. As of now that's the most likely outcome. In short, Mr. Edwards has no reason to attack Mr. Obama at this time; he has an excellent reason to attack Mrs. Clinton.
