God on Docket — Yet Again — in Coast Court
in response to reader comment: Payday, someday

History tells us that this country was founded not on "God" at all, but upon a premise of freedom of thought and speech. I defend your right to believe in your God just as I defenc the right of those who believe in other Gods, including those of the ancient Greeks and Romans. I welcome the beauty and compassion of the winter holiday season. I am not opposed to prayer at the dinner table, when I am present, though, I will quietly refrain from participation. I purposefully leave "God" out of the Pledge of allegiance out of respect for what this country stands for and what it's authors originally wrote. And if I find you dying in the street and can do little else to help you, I will help you perform those religious incantations that will comfort you. In truth, your religion belongs between your ears, in your church or in your home. It does not belong on our statehouses and government buildings or any other public entity. Learn to live with it it's a fact!
