The Logic of Bloomberg

Submitted by Jim Keating, Jan 4, 2008 15:10

As a avid Sun reader, I must say that I kind of agreed with yesterday's WSJ editorial. I have been surprised over the past year or so about the Sun's push for the Mayor to run for President since he doesn't usually fit the Sun's editorial positions. I lived most of my 62 years in NYC and now reside in NJ. I will admit that Mr. Bloomberg has been a very competent mayor. But he inherited a city that was put back on its feet by Rudy. It wasn't so long ago that the city was a terrible place to live and work...crime, graffiti, etc. Rudy did a marvelous job in cleaning up the city that Mayor Bloomberg inherited, and I believe he would make a good president. Yes, Mr. Bloomberg has the attributes that you cite in your editorial, but he also has a streak of Hillary's nanny-state mentality, which I fear most of all. I will, however, agree that if it's Hillary vs. Huckabee, I'll be looking for a third party candidate and would support Mayor Bloomberg if he decided to run. Jim Keating Iselin, NJ
