Thank you for this excellent, erudite and informative article! I am saving it and hope to explore the statues mentioned on my few days off from work. You pass so much beautiful statuary in the city living here, and often you pass on the bus and don't really notice or examine them. I may even try to get to the Federal Reserve Bank! (I have a book called Outdoor Monuments of New York about statues in Manhattan which should also serve as a guide.)
