Oh yes, by all means, let's not get all sanctimonious about things like fidelity, loyality and honesty. So, what's the point here? That one can be wholely irresponsible (even an absolute sh*t) in his personal life, but as long as he's able to project a public image of shining knight, we should concern ourselves only with that public persona, no matter what goes on behind the scenes (because, after all, as Mrs. Clinton says, private is private)? If so, why doesn't everybody fess up about all their little personal peccadillos and we can "tsk tsk" for a day or so and then just move on. You know what quality I'm beginning to value above all others? Discretion. If Mayor Giuliani (and I'm a Giuliani supporter) had kept his many marital and extra-marital woes private, if no one had ever known about Monica Lewinsky...well, you get the idea. I'm weary of the public washing of everyone's private dirty laundry. And I don't want to spend four to eight more years doing that laundry in the White House. If you can't stay on the straight and narrow (and plenty do), then for God's sake at least be reliably discrete. All others need not apply.
