White House Statement on Reduction in Nuclear Weapons Stockpile

Thats great and all, but as an Amarillo boy that means that my hometown will get to play homebase to more plutonium warheads, which is fine. Growing up next to Pantex, I'm used to the idea of being very close to a lot of nuclear bombs, but I can't help but think what a waste of energy it is to allow all of that beautiful plutonium just sit out in a bunker not doing anything.

For the last 20 year the World's power reactors have been burning through the old Russian nuclear stock pile, why not fuel the next 20 year with America's? It would be like literally beating our swords into plowshares. Of course that would take the the politicians in Washington to allow reprocessing nuclear fuels again, and it would take a plant to do it, and if we are going to build a plant might as well do it close to the bombs, and since we got a plant we might as well reprocess all those nuclear fuel rods that those politicians are fighting about burying out in the desert.
