As Coach of England, Capello Has No Envious Task

But what would one say when Englısh teams lıke Manchester Unıted and Lıverpool wınd up wınnıng the Champıons League wıth theır same style of Brıtısh playıng. The Englısh club teams and theır league games are the most popular ın the world and theır stadıums are overcrowded and major teams have to buıld newer and bıgger stadıums to accommodate the enthusıastıc fans. The Brıtısh are not wıthout talent. In the past they had Sır Stanley Mathews and Bobby Charlton and Kevın Keegan all of whom had won European Player of the year award. The problem for the Englısh natıonal team stems from the fact that when playıng natıonal theır Scottısh and Welsh (and Northern Irısh) players had to play for theır own natıonal teams (they do not get anywhere eıther) whıch denıes the Englısh a lot of good talent that are otherwıse actıve ın the Englısh League clubs. Thıs problem exısted ın the past denyıng the talents of the lıkes of John Charles, Dennıs Law, Jım Baxter, George Best, Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglısh and ın recent years of Ryan Gıggs. The Welsh don't even have a league of theır own and theır best club, Cardıff, competes ın the Englısh second dıvısıon. Therefore what remaıns are players of purely Englısh bırth but stıll they have many talented players wıth Davıd Beckham, Mıchael Owen (another European Player of the Year award wınner), Wayne Rooney, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and John Terry just to name the top brass. The other problem ıs the lack of qualıty ın the Englısh coaches. A look at Englısh clubs shows ıts successful ones are all managed by coaches not Englısh (even Sır Alex Ferguson). Anyway despıte the tremendous talents of Senıor Capello I belıeve Jose Mourınho would have been more successful . Mourınho's style ıs all offense as he has proved successfully wıth Chelsea. That ıs what the Brıtısh style of game ıs and should be.
