I try to read news from around the world. My readings reflect little currency for the opinions Mr. Steyn fears. I have lived long enough to note that leaves are dropping later, warm weather species have come north, and warm weather crops are growing farther north.

For anyone over age 50, the experience of global warming is obvious, if subtle. It is not so much a drum beat of statistics but recognizing that the winds and temperature are changing. Even the DoD is including global warming in its strategic analysis of potential conflicts. Whether our ability to change the climate is small or great, I would prefer to use a smaller car and to avoid intense carbon pollution.

Mr Steyn has weaved low European population growth, rather radical feminism, decline of traditional religion, and Senator Gore's misquote of the Bible into some rambling conspiracy theory. It would seem prudent to seek an analysis of reality than fragile matrix of diverse criticisms.
