Once Home to Adolf Hitler, Vienna Is Reaching Out to New York's Jews

Submitted by siegfried Buchwalter, Dec 11, 2007 18:37

As native of Vienna who was deported in 1941 to Litzmannstadt I have bad memories of Vienna during the Nazi era. Even though antisemitism was always present in Vienna even before Hitler. However ,the women screaming Ein Volk, ein Reich , ein Fuehrer and Juda verrecke will never leave my memory. The worst part was my visit in Vienna in 1950 prior to emigration to the United States. Austrian women told me "du lebst a no" and griped what they had suffered from the Russian never admitting when they were in charge how they treated Jews. Vienna produced some of the most violent Nazis with the Morziplatz as its headquarter and after the war there was no admission of complicity
