The mormon faith believes in being self sufficient. I do not know one member on welfare. They have "bishop storehouses" where the underprivilaged can go and get food during a time of need. This food comes from donations from other members. I was a social worker for years and the majority of people that have large familes that can not afford them are good at working the system. They are the ones that are telling their 14 year old daughters not to use birth control just to get a check and WIC. All of the mormon doctrine is about being able to provide for your family. Members believe that children are a gift from god and are to be loved and respected not looked upon as a problem. Not all mormon families are large it just seems that the large ones get the most attention for some reason. J
