The myth that nuclear energy is fossil emission free comes from a thin slice of the total nuclear fuel cycle. A large amount of fossil fuel energy is used to mine the uranium, a large coal-burning plant in Paducah, KY is where the uranium gets enriched, then oil burning large trucks are required to move the enriched uranium to the reactors, where they boil water without causing more carbon emissions. Then wev are left with deadly wastes that must be quarantined, virtually forever. After the Enron manipulated California energy crisis, California instituted policies that reduced usage and stabilized consumption while still thriving. Indian Point is a risk we don't need to take.
