‘Dumb Timers' Wasting Precious Energy; Supers Try To Control Heat

Submitted by Diane Sinclair, Nov 30, 2007 14:03

This respondent is a condo owner/resident in Metro Boston. We are installing a new stateof the art heat timer by "tekmar #269" Unless the condo assoc has the $$$$ to install separate zones for heat, and relies on a thermostat which can be in a unit that leaves the window open or has an electric space heater (both of which can incorrectly tell the boiler/furnace to produce heat), a heat time is the only way to fly. If it works correctly it can effeciently maintain heat to all units (as long as all radiatiors' valves are in proper working order -- neither rusted out or clogged - should be changed annually). Mr. Chayes should research the valueof a heat timer more.

Are these remote control devices available for home owners? Is the heat controled by computer/website? Thanks. - Maggie [MORE]
