"Yet Mr. Kasparov, Mr. Putin's most charismatic opponent" - Opponent, yes, but far from being chrismatic. He is strongly unpopular here in Russia, espeshially taking into consideration the fact his supporters are Mr Limonov (head of the REAL neo-fascist party), Mr Kasyanov (ex-PM, also highly unpopular).

"The Russian courts have refused to extradite Mr. Lugovoy to Britain" - the Constitution denies extradition of the Russian citizens to whatever country. As for the Liberal Democratic Party it uses every possibility to gain votes and the Western media have made Lugovoi strongly popular if not in Russia, at least in the West.
