Israel Lobby's Pull Pales Next to Evil Saudi Input
in response to reader comment: The US is Saudi Arabia's Biggest Trading Partner

Submitted by Robert Bruce Cruickshank, Nov 26, 2007 19:13

Khalid AlSaeed seems to forget that ordinary Americans have some good reasons to be skeptical about Saudi Arabia: support for intolerant, anti-western Wahhabi Muslim madrasas worldwide, even in the US prison system; memories of Saudi Arabia, leader of OPEC, forcing oil prices higher by withholding supply, in the past; wallowing in excess profits at present in connivance with the Bush Administration and Big Oil; an apparently intolerant society, where women aren't even allowed to drive on their own - as if they should need permission, anyway; and, oh yeah, most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudis!
I'm sure there are many, many righteous Saudis. The unpopular ruling tyrants, however, give us reason to hesitate. Why is it that the U.S. always lines up with the dictators all over the world (yes, even Saddam was a U.S. client before his invasion of Kuwait and betrayal of Bush, Sr, making his removal inevitable, in revenge)? These guys always get overthrown in the end, and the U.S. gets further discredited. How long can one think the beloved Saudi "royal family" would survive without the U.S. backing them? Would their oil just buy them another thug nation to prop them up?
I'll bet we're an even bigger trading partner, now that they've so considerately raised the price of oil to levels that make one wonder if economic warfare is being perpetrated on us. Thanks a lot, Saudi Arabia, Bush (who's family has huge economic ties with, and financial interests in, Saudi Arabia and even with the bin Ladens, through The Carlyle Group, etc.), and Big Oil: you're really giving the American people a good pummeling
