Empty Seats Threaten NBA's Future in New Orleans

Chris

Maybe you should do your own homework. No matter how much you defend your pathetic market, you won't be able to get around the fact that it's a horrible market.

You say that the suites are almost all sold out. How about mentioning the fact that they are the cheapest suites in the league. Not to mention that there are less than 60 of them there. Not too hard to do. While most teams in the league sell out over 100 suites or come close to it, you can't even sell 60. Oh, and the regular seats that ARE NOT being sold are the cheapest as well.

Corporate numbers are the highest that they've been? What a joke. That doesn't say much for the history of the team, if that's even true. Everybody in the know is actually more down on the fact that there is such little corporate support. More so than the lame attendance. The Crescent City champions have a grand total of THREE sponsors. That's pathetic. All those little sponsors account for enough money to maybe pay for Jannero Pargo.

And I wouldn't be so quick to rag on King David. He's the ONLY reason that the team moved back to that dump. The owner, GM, head coach, Saints owner, players, opposing players, national media and everyone else under the sun knows that OKC kicks the crap out of NO when it comes to passion and support of the Hornets and if Seattle gets its act together, it's just a matter of time before the Hornets start eyeing OKC again.

Of course a close minded, non progressive, unmulticultural person like yourself has a hard time with NBA marketing and thinks it's "one sided." Well I've got news for you. Tons of white people across the nation go to NBA games and are marketed to. It's called club seats and luxury suites.

You know those skits that they do during timeouts? That's geared towards whites as well. Just because the south doesn't respond well to the NBA doesn't mean the rest of us are in the same boat.

Attendance being down is a league wide problem? Try telling that to LA, Chicago, New York, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Miami, Cleveland, Detroit, Utah, and Denver. Also, what about upstarts like Houston, Orlando, Golden State, and Portland? Those are teams that have attendance numbers at a level higher than in recent years and it's still football season.

Sure, attendance is down in Indy, Minny, Philly, and Charlotte but it's still football season and unlike NO and its crappy Saints, those markets have football teams that are worth a damn so there's no interest in the NBA. Maybe the Vikings blow but AP is reason enough to give the Vikings run and can you blame the fans in those other markets for not showing up? The Pacers, Wolves, and Sixers have nothing going for them. No player of the future or anything to get excited about in any of those markets. Yet they are still drawing more than a team with the cheapest seats, an exciting tempo, good character guys and a winning record to boot.

Dude, don't smack King David. His empire is doing just fine as it's global appeal is stronger than ever. He's fine here as well as his new tv deal will attest to. With season ticket sales in the league at an all time high, we'll see the attendance numbers back to usual when NFL season ends. Well, everywhere but New Orleans that is and that will be taken care of as soon as they wise up and go back to OKC and the league can finally market to a passionate red state where the people have morals and don't whine about "not being marketed to," not an immoral dung heap with egomaniacs and entitled types.
