Foreign Students Spend Holiday In Amish Country

Hi. This is a great article, and very welcome coverage for a deserving organization.

I did want to bring to your attention an inaccuracy in the article. Metro International was not founded by universities. There was a group of foreign student advisors -- employees at a bunch of universities, who felt their universities weren't offering students all they needed to feel at home in the NYC area. SO on their own, as private citizens, they raised money and created Metro International in 1977. Now it is a $1 million organization that has to raise support from individuals, foundations, the government, and corporations. Universities who wish to be members pay a fee each year, and there are 90 or so members in the tri-state region.

It's important to clear this up because I don't want people to think this organization is supported by the universities, when they need so much support from the public!

Best wishes,

Sharon Wyse
