Your first statement was all too true. You seem to have missed or not want to see (or hear) the information given. Perhaps you are indeed suffering from too good a position in life. And as such like many others don't really care. "If all this is a bit over-the-top, it nonetheless seems to be working" seems a tip off to your empathy or lack thereof. I think that its not even close. More has to be done.

Your article is devoid of any true compassion for what is happening in Darfur. The only time when you endeavor to show any emotion is when you are cynical.
