It is always sad to see the people we tend to look to as the elite intellectuals among us inexplicably reduce themselves to irrational hypocracy.....

clearly the criticism of mr. bollinger's pre-emptive attack of his invited guest ahmadinejad was in horrifically bad taste and warrants the criticism being brought against him....

and the claims that mr. bollinger has conflagrated the 'bush' position with that of the university also seems to be appropriate.....

however instead of most of the professors who have signed this letter taking the position that columbia should stand the high ground of a great forum for both freedom of speech and a safe venue for all political platforms......this groups agenda becomes transparently both irrational(in light of the above) and hypocritical in requesting the university to take a political position against israel by divesting itself from all companies selling arms and/or military equipment to israel....

it is so painfully sad for me to see the purported intelligentsia of our society unable to see how destructive they would be if given power .......so clearly seeing the fault of the other........while in less than a hiccup ready to operate in the same fashion because or their myopic vision and belief in simple truths.

the beauty and the need of universities open to all points of view without becoming themselves driving political entities.
