As I have stated here before, Mr. Churchill is charlatan that wraps himself in a protective cloak of multi-culturalism to cover for the shoddiness of his scholarship. I predicted last week that the fine students at the New School would embrace his schlock with open arms. I'm not sure how he came to chair a academic department at a major state-funded university without a PhD, but I'm sure it didn't hurt when he claimed (fraudulently) his heritage was from three different Native American tribes (much to tribal leadership's surprise, I might add). It is a tremendous irony that Mr. Churchill has usurped the power of indigenous heritage in order to further his own academic and financial gain. Churchill has inflicted his own invention of colonialism on a personal and intellectual level. He is the living embodiment of the imperialism of the white man. On top of this, we have a long list of academic fraud and plagiarism, not to mention bogus information on his resume and inaccurate claims regarding his military service in Vietnam. It's disheartening for the rest of us in the academic world to see something like this when we are working awfully hard to produce decent scholarship. In a recent interview with the hyper-left Democracy Now!, Churchill claimed that the World Trade Center, had it been in Iraq, would have met all the Pentagon's criteria as a valid missile target (because there may have been offices of the CIA or FBI there, he claimed). The attack, he stated, was a natural response. It was all our fault, collectively speaking. Upon arriving at the New School, Mr. Churchill immediately called his absent host University President Bob Kerrey (a Democrat, former senator and veteran), a "mass murderer and serial killer." Standing ovation, naturally. No mention of the fact that Churchill spent a time teaching bombing-making techniques to terrorists in the United States back in the good ol' days. But they probably would have applauded that, too. Sadly, Mr. Churchill well understands his academic audience.
