You overlook the fact that one year ago, with Initiative 91, 75% of Seattle voters said "No" to any further tax subsidies to professional sports teams. With that vote, any political support for tax subsidies for the Sonics evaporated, and Seattle ceased to be a welfare state for millionaire players and billionaire owners in any sports league.
