Ore. Court Mulls Circumcision Case

Submitted by Michael Glass, Nov 7, 2007 21:43

James Boldt, the boy's father, said that "legally it doesn't matter what the boy wants. Custodial parents get to make medical decisions for their children," http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/119440775580080.xml&coll=7&thispage=3 Hello! He's talking about his own son. The boy is 12 years and 8 months old, and it doesn't matter what he wants! Has Mr. Boldt even considered his son's wishes or welfare? Is anyone considering what this long-standing battle might be doing to this youngster? Also, what is this claim that this is a medical decision? Mr. Boldt stirred up the Jewish community by his claim of religious motivation, and now he turns round and claims it's a medical decision! Medicine or mendacity? I think it is time that the Oregon Supreme Court and the Jewish organizations took a good hard look at Mr. Boldt and his pretensions. Perhaps the Jewish organizations should ask themselves how this man was able to manipulate them into supporting his side in a particularly nasty dispute with his former wife.
