Divining Patterns in the Imperial Cycle

"Genghis Khan, the Mongol warlord who built towering stacks of the heads of his enemies' children"?

Check your own facts. This statement is false. Tamerlane was the one who commited such attrocities as you attrribute to Genghis Khan. He has done plenty in his own right, including slaughter all males taller than the height of a wagon wheel of a long time rival tribe. (but adopted their children, talk about being concious of manpower) Such prejudices were the result of 18th century revisionists promoting eurocentricism. Read Jack Weatherford's work for a history of various perceptions of the Mongol Empire. I see the point you were trying to make at the beginning, but it would only carry any authority if it was an accurate anecdote.

The article is pretty useful and interesting where it is not subjective. The introduction and conclusion are very awkwardly out of place. Below the quality I would expect from a professional writer.
