2008 Candidates Show Affinity for Atomic Energy

Anyone who opposes Nuclear Power is living in an uninformed universe of their own design.

In a few years of reasearch (and use of nuclear power) France has almost completely eliminated the waste produced from nuclear energy plants. How do they do this? They recycle it into more energy. They do this over and over again until there is almost nothing left. How does anyone expect to move beyond this energy source if we don't use it. This is how science works. You come up with an idea. You build many versions until one works. Then you build better versions because thats how you make money. Eventually, another scientist figures out a better way and the cycle starts over again.

Additionally, who is to say we will not find a use for the waste that remains. One hundred or so years ago there was another substance that we had virtually no use for. Do you know what that was? Oil. Now look at us, we can't get enough of it.

All these politicians like to tout alternative energy and energy independance plans. I used to think we could become independent through non-nuclear, alternative energy. Guess what. It doesn't exist! My roommate worked for a wind power company as an engineer. It is not possable to even power all the residential zones with this power. Not to mention you have to destroy the forrest to install them. Solar is great for individuals who want (and have the money) to install them, but when it rains, it pours...litteraly and you will be in the dark.

In my opinion, if you say you are against nuclear energy expansion....you are the opposite of an enviornmentalist. Get a clue people.
