Yankees Ignored Inflation in Rodriguez Dealings

Marchman, I usually agree with you, and think that you bring an interesting viewpoint. You are way, way off on this one. I'm not sure if you're frustrated with the upheaval facing the team, but lashing out blindly is not the way to go. You're most off base on Hank Steinbrenner. If you have your ear to the ground, you will see that nearly 100% of fans across the board back him regarding his stance on A-Rod and his pronouncements regarding being a Yankee. Go check the blogs and message boards. And inflation? Gimme a break. That's total crap that you just made up. We don't even know for sure exactly what the Yankee offer would have been because A-Rod never gave the Yanks a chance to make the offer. If it was approximately the $30M per for 5 years that was rumored, and his average annual salary on the previous contract was $25.2 ($252M for 10 years), how is a nearly 20% raise not beating inflation? Sorry, the last raise I was offered was a lousy 3%. That's what being paid less really is, so how about not pissing off real people with ludicrous crap like this article? I know you as a writer constantly need a new angle, but c'mon.
