Haven't we had enough of the Steinbrenner bashing? While it is true, he has been one of the most brash and impulsive owners in the history of baseball - but the guy is practically a halloween skeleton and people are still taking shots at him. He has always gotten his share of criticism, but has never gotten his share of the credit. If he gets the blame for the Yankees poor showings, why doesn't he get credit when the team wins? When the team wins, Torre is a genius. When the team loses, it is the owner's fault. I think Torre has been good for the Yankees over the years, but that does not mean he is a saint and Steinbrenner, the devil. Steinbrenner has been one of the driving forces for the Yankees. He wants to win as much as any of his players. He backs that up with his time and his money. You can bash Steinbrenner for all his mistakes and public tantrums, but you can't question his committment to winning. So, take your shots while you can, but you will regret it if the Yankees fall into the hands of a guy like Bud Selig - who is more interested in the bottomline than in winning. Steinbrenner gets bashed for actually caring if his team wins! So get off the Steinbrenner Yankee bandwagon any time you want and go for a ride with the Brewer's on their partial season of glory - if that is what you want from your franchise. Paul C.
