I think a good question is: Why does modern Turkey resist apologizing for what the Ottoman Empire did in 1915? It could be quite parallel to our American Congress's hypothetical refusal to apologize for some atrocity that the Confederate States of America perpetrated. We are much better justified to stop current atrocities instead of laying blame for something that happened three generations ago.
