A Queenly Farewell

Submitted by Michael Weaver, Oct 15, 2007 16:41

My thanks to the reviewer who gave Kiri te Kanawa praise for her singing of Duparc's treasurable Phydile at her farewell concert at Carnegie Hall. I've been praising the song for being one of the finest chansons on the books for decades now. I liked, as well, the fine reference to the Copland setting of Dickinson song, Heart we will forget him. it would have been my choice from that beautiful set. This was one of the most satisfying reviews of a recital I've read. Perhaps the demurrers were camoflagued aabit, however. A most enjoyab le read! Michael Weaver
