Excellent points made by Levin and Wehnr! I would add that in the same way the left gave up ground on religion, allowing the right to frame the issue, the right needs to have a say in matters concerning upward mobility (and I completely agree with the chief ways of getting there listed in this article), the environment, and certainly in health care, which is not the dream that people make it out to be in any of the countries that have socialized care. I think the right needs to put itself into the mode of exposing fraud, court and insurance costs, and show actual data about the numbers of foreigners using the US system because their own system won't allow treatment they need or do it in enough time to save the patient. This infomation should be the basis for offering alternative ideas.

When you give up the entire conversation to someone else, they get to define whatever it is.
