Secret Plan Feared to Tax Mortgages on Co-op Homes

I am delighted that the veil of secrecy is slowly being removed from Coops. Any effort to bring this institution into lockstep with real estate and housing law rather than corporate law is a step n the right direction. However, The real estate mortgage recording tax is another example of how the middle class who cannot afford to pay cash for a home are unfairly penalized. There should be a way to distribute this liability to anyone making the transaction -- not just those who must use financing.
