My overriding sense regarding the tenure of this president has been one of simple incompetence. There is generally no malice per se (although in the case of Iraq there clearly was malice aforethough) , there is no forethought nearly whatever. For the first 2 years of this administration Israel's (and the Palestinians for that matter) needs were utterly ignored. The needs of peoples across the planet are utterly ignored unless they fit into the thinking of the pseudo-intellectual sycophants associated with Vice-President Cheney.

When justification for the invasion of Iraq became hard to come by, it was somehow linked to the settlement of issues in Israel. This is a false front, to equate the actions (or inactions) of the occupation forces and any events in Israel are incorrect. It is literally saying , We invade country A to solve the problems of country K & M. I see no relation other than warmed over Weldpolitik and a modern take on the Schliemann plan.
