Abbas Details Land Demands

"Exceeding anything that Israel has to offer".......is putting it mildly.

The so-called right of return, (in fact there is no right), alone, is enough to scuttle this entire outrage.

Condi (Bush's mouthpiece) thinks that somehow a miracle will occur, and save the Bush administration from an awful legacy. She knows that Iraq is a failed goal, Iran will have nukes, Afghistan's jury is still out, and Osama Bin Ladin is alive and flourishing in Pakistan, regrouping and rearming.

So, picking on the weakest link, is the best way to proceed.

This summit is about compromise, on everybody's part. Israel is assuming that, like a union-management dispute, Abbas is simply making the most extreme demands..which can be mitigated.

Israel is dead wrong. Abbas has nothing to lose. Hamas and Fatah are strong and getting stronger. Even now, there are rumors about them getting together (at Israel's expense).

Syria wants the Golan back and will push to include it on the agenda, to insure she shows up at all.

The Arabs League is solidly behind Abbas, and why not?

If Israel balks, Fatah and Hamas and Islamic Jihad will restart the Intifada, (which has never really ended).

Israel seems to have no way out of this...except to go to the summit, have it's own red lines...the Road Map and UN242. It must demand compliance with both. The return of the refugees can be put on the table, but have no serious impact.

For starters, Olmert must unify his people, and bring in the more right wing parties..

Peace Now people want peace now, but will get a tragic war later.
