Thank you for a well rounded article describing the history of the African Burial Ground. It is also important to mention the significance that National Monument designation by the White House brings to a historic site. The Burial ground is now considered a national treasure similar to the Statue of Liberty! It is my hope that the memorial will inform and educate visitors about the history of colonial NYC and the sacrifices that people of African descent have made toward the building of our great city. This can only happen if journalist continue to write about it and inform people about the existence of this site in articlces such as yours.
