To Talk, or Not To Talk

Submitted by Magda Kosmin, Oct 9, 2007 19:23

I agree with Rabbi Ellenson, it is impossible to be part of a dialogue when your person is not recognized. It is so sad that so many religious leaders attending the meeting couldn't see or acknowledge the fox within.

I would expect that self serving politicians, or people who prefer to live with their face in the sand , would be lured by such a farcical invitation. But, people who probably think of themselves as educated, enlightened, ethical, spiritual leaders avowing to Judeo /Chiristian values, that I find hard to understand and actually quite painful.

To be sarcastic, I could venture to say that maybe all those who attended were so ignorant of history and the ruseful antiques of similar past historical leaders, that they really saw in this meeting a true opportunity for genuine dialogue. Or maybe, they were just plain and simple vain enough and naive enough to be honored by such an invitation. I would, however, not have objected to being a fly on the wall listening to the mockery and re-enforcing my resolve.

Thank you Rabbi Ellenson for writing such an eloquent, heart felt editorial.
