Aren't We All Just Replicants on the Inside?

Submitted by Neil Rieck, Oct 9, 2007 07:35

Ridley Scott's movie "Blade Runner" combined with K. W. Jeter's book "Blade Runner 2: The Edge of Human" (which was supposedly inspired by conversations with Philip K Dick) represent some of the most compelling sci-fi available in the past 100 years. Starting around 1975, our society has slowly become obsessed with computer technology which then become an enabler for bio-tech. Who knows when homo-sapien will morph into homo-technologicus? Maybe it is already happening but activities like "The Human Genome Project" and "Folding@home" are making the change happen faster.
