War by its very nature is disastrous. But should that prohibit the United States from launching even unilateral action against a Theocratic Dictatorship which declared war on the United States in 1979? The terrorist act of 9/11/01 was not the first act of terror launched on the U.S. by this rogue Iranian govt. and wont be the last.

It was 1979, President Carter with the spine of a jelly fish, protracted the Hostage Crisis that year by doing virtually nothing to stop it. Ever wondered why they released the hostages from the American embassy in Tehran the day before, President - Elect Reagan took office? It's simple, they knew the cowboy from California was not the type to condone an act of agression and outright war upon the American people and her govt. by the taking of the American diplomatic mission to Iran in Tehran. The very fact Khomeini's govt . vascillated and by doing nothing to stop the incursion of hostile Iranians onto American soveign territory, which was our embassy at the time; by virtue on its own is an act of hostile war by the Iranian govt against the U.S.

Iran started this war in 1979. Just because America has waited till the present time to act on this foreign agression is a choice of policy and geopolitical strategy. See at the time Iran was also engaged in a protracted war of attrition with Iraq.

No I disagree, it would be far more disastrous to continue the course of non-action, which is actually appeasement than to act and cure this issue once and for all time by the destroying this evil menace.
