Safety Issue Could Turn Trains Dry

Submitted by Steve Tocknell, Dec 7, 2006 14:12

To me the safety issue looks like a red herring. The commuter bar cars are competing for customers with the people who run the bars that are located in or near the NYC terminals. They would gain if the bar cars are eliminated, so I suspect that they are somehow behind the events that are described in this story.

My own bias favors the commuter bar cars. While I was in college from 1968 - 1971, I worked as a LIRR porter and bartender. It was the greatest summer job that anyone could have hoped for.

Beer tastes much better on a moving train.
