Perhaps the Europeans are recalling that just a few weeks ago, Putin threatened them with nuclear missiles AND started manuevers using long range bombers armed with nuclear tipped cruise type missiles. All this if the US went ahead with it's plan to place defensive missiles (against Iran), in an East European country and establish a radar station.

Now, all of a sudden, the US's tactical and strategic nukes and dozens of aricraft carriers, are looking better and better., and differences over whether or not the US and Britain should have rescued 50m people from Saddam and the Taliban, even considering the aftermath of dysfunctional countries.

Europe has to be keen that slowly but surely, radical Islam is chipping away at it's heretofore Judeo-Christian ethics and it's democratic institutions. They genuinely fear Sharia law imposing itself on themselves, slowly, cleverly, insidiously and more boldly.

With a defiant Iran, not giving one inch to obeying the UNSC resolutions, and continuing it's quest for nuclear parity with the surround countries (India, China, Pakistan, the US and Israel), the French and Germans should be concerned. They know that Iran's Shihad and Power Missiles will be able to reach Paris and Berlin.

So, while the Iranian President dismisses the Holocaust ever happening, yet refers to the same non event as fiction, he uses it as an excuse to defend the Palestinians, the true victims (in his mind), of the after effects of the same Holocaust., in spite of the fact that they were given a country in 48, and offered a country in 67, 73 and at Camp David.
