Steve, I don't know anything about Johnny Beazley - but as I do remember Fernando Valenzuela, I was surprised that you used him to make a point about "youth." Don't you remember all the rumors about how much he lied about his age, to get his shot at the big-leagues? And how those rumors appeared to have been validated, by how seemingly quickly his skills eroded? My personal suspicion, just from growing up around, and looking at other Hispanic men all my life, was that he was somewhere between 27 and 30, when he was claiming to be 20. Did you ever hear anyone verify that he really was as young as originally claimed?
