Failure To Understand

Submitted by Gitar Dood, Sep 18, 2007 19:37

If my understanding of Toohey and Usefulid is correct they in essence missed the whole point! Yes, Mark may be given to ranting or hyperbole or any other literary tool at his disposal (and he wields them quite impressively), BUT the meat of the matter was that no amount of fawning on these types of people he eviscerated, will placate them - so telling them to "give peace a chance" or "all you need is love" or "imagine..." and filling in the blanks with whatever your sappy raison d'etre of the moment is, won't alter the course of jihad. I am Canadian, but all my fave prez's all had gumption - Tricky Dick - who even Mao feared thus he initiated a peace treaty, Ronnie Ray Gun --Zap (as the song described him 25 yr ago), and even both Bushes (Sr to a lesser degree than Jr) - who show themselves capable of making and following through on tough decisions and courses of action - unpopular as they may be. The best position of bargaining from as all these aforementioned understood, is from a position of STRENGTH - the worst being from "WEAKNESS" (whether real or perceived.
