Again, the Case for Taiwan

Submitted by John, Sep 13, 2007 12:26

The U.S. government clearly stated that Taiwan is neither a part of China nor a sovereign state. So, I think that the Chinese government should cease to claim that Taiwan's part of China because politically it's not. China is saying it to satisfied its internal politics. Furthermore, the U.S. government also stated that the status of Taiwan is undecided. This means that Taiwan does not belong to anybody even though most countires do not recognize it as a state. Therefore, the people of Taiwan have the right to decide the status of their country. It's as simple as that. People shound not read too much into it. None of the polistical pressure from China or U.S. can force Taiwan to reverse its democratic political system. If they try, they will definitely fail.

Oh, by the way. Regardless of Taiwan's political image in the world, it's much better than the political system in China. Chinese people who make fun of Taiwan's democracy do not understand what is democracy and how does it work. I feel very sad that in China's long history, there is absolutely no democracy what so ever.
